Independence Day

Today the whole of the U.S. is celebrating Independence Day. On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed, establishing the separation of the 13 colonies from Great Britain and the foundation of the United States of America.

The date has become America’s most important holiday, marked with BBQs, street parties, concerts and spectacular fireworks. The largest and best known fireworks show is probably “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” in New York. For the first time ever they will be set off from Brooklyn Bridge this year and will light up the skies over the East River.

Our German coworkers in Blauvelt will not be missing this event but celebrating Independence Day together with the whole nation.
