Pharmapack in Paris: Innovative Trade Fair Presentation by Schreiner MediPharm

There’s a dark side dormant in all of us… Pharmapack visitors will be able to test their criminal skills at Schreiner MediPharm’s booth (M31) in Hall 4 this year. The challenge: Everyone will be invited to try to open Schreiner MediPharm’s closure seals for pharmaceutical packaging without their tampering attempts being detected. This special activity will take place in the light of EU Regulation 2016/161 supplementing the Falsified Medicine Directive, which all pharmaceutical manufacturers of prescription drugs will have to implement within the next two years.

Regulations like these require innovative solutions to protect patients against counterfeit medicines. Schreiner MediPharm meets these requirements with a broad portfolio of customized Pharma-Security solutions to protect the supply chain. A highlight at the trade fair booth is a newly developed sample label demonstrating a combination of diverse digital security features on a Booklet-Label with an integrated first-opening seal.

The bottom layer of the Booklet-Label by Schreiner MediPharm contains a tab that serves as a closure seal for tampering protection. Opening the seal causes a void effect to appear as an irreversible first-opening indication. The Booklet-Label applied to a medicine pack allows a pharmacist, for instance,  to read product information provided with the medication without opening the pack and thus, destroying the tamper protection. In addition, the sample label is provided with three digital security features: the BitSecure copy detection technology, the innovative KeySecure tracing system and a label-integrated NFC chip for digital authentication.
